The difference was someone staying involved.
Vulnerable people are handed referrals every day — lists, hotlines, websites. Most of those referrals die in a voicemail box. The systems are real, the funding is real, but the connection never actually happens.
A Less Broken Path exists for exactly that moment: hands-on navigation instead of passive handoffs, collaboration with existing providers instead of duplication, and flexible problem-solving for the barriers that fall between traditional funding streams.
The Courthouse Parking Lot
Our founder arrived at a courthouse to help an existing client fight an eviction. In the parking lot, a stranger approached — a father with two boys, ages 8 and 9 — and asked if he was a lawyer.
"No," Kevin said. "But I'm an advocate."
The family was preparing to sleep outside that night. They weren't on the schedule. They weren't a case number. Kevin listened, activated a relationship with Bybee Lakes Hope Center, and personally advocated until — despite extremely limited capacity — they made room.
